Eight of our Year 7 pupils from travelled to London this week to perform at the Barbican Centre as part of a Music in Secondary Schools Trust (MiSST) concert. Playing flute and clarinet, our young musicians joined over 250 students from across the UK, performing pieces by Grieg, Elgar, and Gershwin to a packed audience — and receiving a standing ovation.

Our Year 7s only began learning their instruments in October through the MiSST programme, which provides instruments, tuition, and performance opportunities to schools in disadvantaged communities. We are proud to be one of just 30 schools supported by MiSST, and look forward to welcoming next year’s Year 7s, who will learn brass instruments under the scheme.
