Astrea Academy Woodfields is delighted to have become a MiSST school and we look forward to the many life-changing opportunities for our pupils.
MiSST stands for the Music in Secondary Schools Trust – a UK charity that provides high-quality classical music education to students, particularly in schools serving disadvantaged communities.
Their mission is to give every young person in their partner schools the chance to learn a musical instrument, receive regular tuition, and take part in ensemble performances, regardless of background or financial circumstances.
A MiSST school is one chosen to receive a transformative, structured classical music programme – covering instruments, tuition, curriculum, enrichment, and staff support – to ensure equitable music education for students in underserved communities. These schools are selected to receive a comprehensive package of classical music education, which includes such support as free instruments; expert tuition; teacher training and access to events plus much more.
